Question Did I miss something?

I recently made a new build (signature) and the motherboard has a CPU 8 +4 power plug.
As far as I can tell, the 4 pin isn't required except for overclocking power needs. I bought an adapter cable anyway to convert the standard 8 pin CPU power cable to a 8+4. The cable hasn't arrived and isn't installed yet.
Since this PSU is a single 12V 70A rail, short of the cable melting or a video card with exceptional power requirements, I think it should be able to provide power via the adapter without any issues. Does that make sense?

What else should I consider in this setup for potential issues?

It should be fine, but I would double check the motherboard's manual to see what they say about having only the 8 pin plugged in. That said, the 5800X is "only" an 8 core, and doesn't draw that much power. Its not like you are running an OCed 5950X.

The manual is a little bereft of useful information, it only says "don't use only the 4 pin".
Adapter installed. Now I will see if it changes my bench scores. (see if it mattered)
