So I was helping my cousin pick out parts for her computer and she put it together today. She powered on and it powered up by no video until she put her old gfx card in.

I have a hunch here...I got her a IP35-E board. I don't think it supports PCIe 2.0. Does the 8800GT REQUIRE a 2.0 board?

update your bios. same thing happend to me with my gigabyte DS3L board. i had to use my 6800gt first to flash the bios and then i put my 8800gt in and it worked fine.

That was gonna be my plan of attack. We'll see if we can get it working for her. Doesn't seem like many people get a dead 8800GT(XFX) so I kinda am doubtful that its dead.

8800GT works fine on the IP35-E. I've tried the 8800GT and 8800GTS and both are fine. Sounds like you need either a new BIOS on your video card or the motherboard (or both).

I got her a Corsair VX550, so I don't think that's the problem.

From what I am reading LOTS of people have trouble with the IP35 boards and the G92 cards...and some people don't. Haven't found anyone that has found the "for sure" solution.

Nvidia's implementation is known to be poor (i.e. fails to autonegotiate). Do the BIOS schtick to workaround.
