Did I make a mistake? (AGP speed question)

I just bought a new PC (primarily for gaming) and didn't realize until just now that the mobo only has an AGP 4x slot. When I go to upgrade my video card a few years from now, will I effectively be screwed because it isn't AGP 8x?

AGPx8 is currently marketing hype. A graphics card such as the Radeon 9700Pro or GeForceFX 5800 Ultra is 98 to 100% as fast at AGPx4 as it is at AGPx8. Also, all current AGPx8 cards are backwards-compatible to AGPx4.

Yes, because we'll be moving to PCI-Express 😛
Nah, you shoul dbe fine with 4x, it offers enough speed at the moment to make 8x usless, you might suffer slightly in the future, but hardly at all, and you might buy a new mobo by the time you'd need 8x to get the most out of your GFX card.

Wow, thanks for the speedy replies! So basically, in 2005 or 2006 you expect 4x to still be a viable slot speed, correct?
