Did I make a horrible mistake with 533 cpu and PC800 RDRAM?

I currently have two Kingston KVR800X18/256 memory modules that I wanted to use and have ordered an Intel D850EMV2 Motherboard and a P4 2.4 GHZ 533 CPU. I fear that I may have made a costly mistake.

On the kingston site I see a statement that:
"533MHz system bus requires PC800-40 or 1066MHz RIMMs"

Is there any way my KVR800X18/256 modules will work with the Intel D850EMV2 Motherboard? Will I need a 400 mhz CPU rather than a 533 mhz CPU to make this work?

I was under the impression that with a 533 CPU, the CPU to chipset bus would run at 533 and the chipset to memory bus could still be set to run at 400 thus allowing standard PC800 RDRAM like my KVR800X18/256 modules to function - is this incorrect?

Thanks very much for any advice. And sorry for my lack of RDRAM understanding.

I do not know the answer for sure, but i would assume that you could run PC800, but would lose a significant amount of performance compared to PC1066

Thanks for the reply.

I guess the main question which I need to know for sure is will it work at all?

And the second big question is since I have the PC800 RDRAM which I spent $200 for already, and I have $500 for the rest of the computer, how I can maximize performance when selecting the CPU to work with this RDRAM?

That MB does support PC-800 so your fine there and the CPU is also fine. The CPU will run at 533FSB while at the same time the Ram will run at 400FSB.You should get great performance with your set up,especially out of your memory.I have a 2.4B and PC-3200 in my system and when I OC to get my memory up to 400Mhz the performance is outstanding.Basically I would be happy with what you have and the performance you get out of it.
