Did I lose my Word document for good?

I opened a Word document that was attached to an Outlook e-mail yesterday. I made numerous changes to it and used the quick save icon on the toolbar. Now when I need it, I realize it did not save it in my usual documents folder, but instead at the temporary location when opened from Outlook. I cannot find it at all.

I opened the attachment again and it opens in a folder like \Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\FD9SD0. However, I am not able to see the Content.IE5 folder in Windows explorer even though I choose for nothing to be hidden in the folder options. I searched the Temporary Internet Files folder and all subfolders and I cannot find the updated file I saved.

I tried searching for *.doc on my computer and it's not there. I forgot to mention I have rebooted my computer a couple times since yesterday, but I'm not sure if any temporary files are deleted after each reboot.

If you have WORD as your default mail editor Outlook will open the *.tmp in
your <USER DIRECTORY> \ LOCAL SETTINGS \ TEMP directory.
(that is for WinME - 2k - XP)

Did you include hidden files in your search? If not, doing so may help.
