Did I kill the play station game

Hi
I've soder electronics before but not on this small of scale, and also when my eye site was better. I sodered a mod chip in a scph 5501 in stealth mode, and hooked it up and no power came on. I'm sure it was on the right leads on the chip and the board, but I must have shorted something out. So I took the chip back out and tried the psx again with no chip. This time I got a power light to come on, and only a instant flash and sound on the tv. SO I MUST STILL HAVE SOMETHING SHORTED OUT. Is there enough voltage on this board so that if i do have something shorted out, that it has trashed the board? Or do you think that if I find the short the unit will work again?

Is the parallel port on the back of this unit under the cover the port that is used with the mod card that is inserted instead of using the chip?

🙂 thanks for any help 🙂

Did you put some electrical tape over the sodder connections? If the sodder connection is touching the metal tray on the bottom, it will short out the unit. Make sure your CD is connected correctly also

I only put black tape around the chip, there were no lose ends after I sodered the wires to the board, so I did not think anything could touch the board itself or the board would have never worked in the first place. what is the cd device that you say should be connected correctly?/ is it the console itself ? also do you think that if i find and remove the short, and the mod chip the board will work agin? thanks 🙂
