Did I kill my P5B-E bios? SOLVED!

HURRAY!!!!
I found the fix over at ASUS' P5B-E forum
and added some steps for clarity.

For bios 0706:
1. Turn off machine and unplug.
2. Remove all memory
3. Place 1 stick in the slot farthest from CPU
4. Try to power on. (one beep is good despite what the manual says)
5. If it powers on go to bios, Advanced / JumperFree Configuration
8. Set AI Tuning to AI N.O.S
9. Set memory voltage to 2.0 volt
10. Reboot
11. If it works, power down, unplug and re-install memory.

It worked for me. I'm sure ASUS gets lots of RMAs due to this simple fix.

I put together the system and was able to get Win XP installed last night.
So today I decided to update the bios using the ASUS Update utility
from bios version 0306 to 0706.
So I burned the bios to a CD and started the update from file.
Everything appeared to be fine and then it said the computer must reboot.
I hit OK.
Now nothing. No beeps. No screens. NOTHING.

I unplugged the power and removed the battery and reset the RTC RAM.
Still NOTHING.

Did I hose the board? Why did it fail? Did I do something wrong?
Should I have copied the bios file to the hard drive?
Is it RMA time?

Anyone have any ideas? HELP!
I'm sad.

I had it up and running. However for some reason the WinXP was not
recognizing the USB ports. I thought it was probably due to the fact
that I had the Mitsumi Card Reader hooked up when installing Windows
and that the bios update made reference to someting related to the USB.

One other thing was the fact that it gave the boot disc the letter F
and I was researching on how to get it to assign it the letter C.

But as I stated the bios update seems to have totally killed it.

How recent was the asus update utility? It could you used a old version of Asus update utility that dont flash fully with new boards. I heard it better to flash in dos.

Can you use memory that's rated at more than 1.8v when using this board for the first time?

I had the same problem with that G.SKILL memory. Found out that everytime I updated bios the settings would revert back to auto. Mem timings 6 6 6 15 or 5 6 6 15. System would not POST. Resolved it by buying one stick of Kingston KVR533/256MB for $33 from Newegg. System would post with it and I could manually change my settings for the G.SKILL.
