Holy crap i was attempting to remove my stock ramsinks on my geforce 3 ti-200 by sliding a credit card between the sink and the chip and accidentally knocked off one of those tiny rectangular thingies (there are like 4 in a row)... the card still works (at least partially since i'm writing this on my system with the card in it) but what am i to do? can i take it to a shop and have them expertly solder it back on? anyone know what those tiny rectangular thinies do??? i need some serious help pronto! thanx

I know i posted this all over the forums but please let me get away with it this one time...this is a big thing for me. thank you

You have knocked off either a capacitor or a resistor. If you can find a similar board and find out what it is, then it can be replaced. If it's a resistor, then just measure the resistance value on the good board and then solder on the same value resistor. You may also have someone else find out what it is and give you the values too. It's not too difficult to do.

I forgot to mention one other thing. If you happened to knock off the capacitor/resistor and see a whitish area instead of a metal area underneath where it should be, that is bad. That means you have knocked off the contact pads too. It's still repairable though. You may just have to scrape off the trace leading to it and solder on that.
