Did I kill 68gt?

Hi all, I have, Maybe had would be a better choice of words,🙁 A leadtek 68gt, I cleaned off the old TIM with 91% isopropyl alcohol, Then I applied some AS5 on GPU, Everything went normal, I have done it before on other cards, Anyway, When I tried to reboot I got terrible artifacts. It will load windows, However there are about 7 columns of white bars down the screen in Windows, If I try to do anything else it just artifacts like crazy. I rechecked, I see nothing wrong with application, Found no traces of AS5 anywhere, I did not change the TIM on the memory, It still has the orginal white paste that came on the card. Does this sound like I did damage the GPU somehow? At this point it looks like a fatal error to me.

I've heard of people doing that when applying too much pressure to the core. Manually underclock it and if it persists it's probably not heat related and you might have cracked the die. =/

I wondered about the die, However the leadtek card has the springs on the screws so I wasn't overly concerned that over tightening the heatsink was the issue, I tried to put them level with the backplate, That is how they came from the factory. However It is very possible that is the issue since I really can think of no other cause for the problems.

Grab a copy of RivaTuner and underclock by a ton. If it still artifacts it's a sure bet it's not heat related.

Wish you the best on this.

Also, did you use this card before or did you mod it straight out of the retail box? It's very possible the card came with those artifacts as the lines are sort of common for bootup 2d artifacts - generally caused by scratching the card somewhere and cutting the circuits. Give it a good visual inspection and make sure there are no dings anywhere which could be your problem.

I have had the card since March, I don't think I did anything to ding the card, However any errors made I shall eat since the card worked fine till I took off the H.S. Just can't honestly think of anything I did that was out of the norm for applying AS5. Of course the results show I screwed up somewhere.
