Hi all,
I have an Audigy one sound card. Just the card not the front panel or anything. I just bought some new JBL duet analogue speakers.
My audigy card has been working fine for at least 2 years. I disconnected the old speakers and connected the new JBL ones. I didn't hear any sound at all. So I just randomly put the speakers in the different audigy ports. Still no sound. I thought maybe the speakers were bad so I tried them on my other system. Worked fine.
I tried again to connect them to the Audigy and the system hard froze. I powered the system back on and the Audigy card wasn't even listed in device manager. I pulled the card and put it in another PCI slot. Wasn't detected when windows booted. I tried to put the card in my other system and it wasn't detected either.
Could the new speakers have somehow damaged the audigy? Possibly when I tried randomly connecting them to the different audigy ports? (I wasn't aware that could do damage?)
It's kind of odd that my audigy would be working fine for all this time and the moment I connect new speakers this happens. I made absolutely zero software changes. Not a clue what could have happened. Is the card dead?
