So... I bought a Samsung 914V 19" LCD online at Office Depot on 12/18, and specified local pickup. Order went through fine.

I printed out the receipt, went to the specified OD, had the manager get me one of the LCD's, showed him the receipt from the web order, and was on my merry way with the monitor.

So today I noticed that my CC balance didn't look right. Looks like I've never been charged for the monitor. This gets me curious, so I look up the order at OD's website. Interestingly, under "Status" it has "Deleted -- Inventory Reasons".

Did I just get a free 19" LCD?

:D

Actually... I planned on sending in the $100 worth of rebates too... LOL would this be tempting fate too much? :)

It would be unethical and no doubt illegal.

No, send in the rebates, it's their screw up, not yours.

And before anyone says anything, I know I have no morals.

Could it really be illegal? He could simply state that he didn't notice.

I'm thinking at least the $40 Samsung rebate. No way they are communicating with OD about each order number in this amount of detail right?

Because OD has secret agents on this board that will go through the trouble of subpoenaing my IP address from Anand then subpoenaing my name from my provider, for a $300 LCD?

Riiiight.

Nah, won't happen. And with the money you just saved, you can buy another. and ship it to me.

Send it in. If it goes south, you'll end up paying what you would have paid anyways

I'm thinking that this might have happened because I went straight to the store after buying online. (Receipt says wait four hours) Maybe by the time the online ordering system caught up with the inventory system of my local store, I had already picked up the last one. (I think the one I got was the last one).

I don't know...anyhow, this is hilarious.
