Last week I ordered a referb ECS K7S5A PRO for 29$ from Newegg. They sent me a ECS L7S7A2 instead. I will say this dude was complete with backplate, cables, ect... So if I keep this board and buy DDR for it am I taking a step forward, backward, or over a cliff?

MUCH forward. The board you got has great C-Media sound, and USB2.0 that works very well. I got this board for my backup computre, and it even overclocks well. I say keep it and rock on man.

This is the strangest thing. I've done about 5k worth of business with them in the last 2 years and never saw anything like this before. The invoice is for the K7S5A PRO but what they shipped was an L7S7A2 complete. Even the Newegg packing slip says K7S5A PRO. The dude looks brand new with the manual, cables, and a sealed driver disk. I'm picking up some DDR tomorrow and taking it for a spin. Wonder who got my K7S5A PRO???

LOL. I highly doubt it! What a great laugh that was, though ;).

I need a better processor for this thing. Will it run a 2200+? Before I spend the money for it and get a Barton that won't run on it I thought I'd better check.

It will run a 2200+, but as somene else said, Bartons Start at 2500+. The 2500+ is a great price right now. If not, get a 1700+ and then clock it at 166Mhz FSB

I know that Bartons start at 2500. I've got one overclocked to 3200 in my Asus A7N8X using the 1007 bios. I was going to order a 2200 XP for the ECS board but was joking that they may send me a Barton... Are you saying the ECS will run a 2500 Barton? I do like the suggestion of the 1700 overclocked if the Barton won't run in it though.

Here is a review of the ECS L7S7A2 motherboard, from what I've heard (I'm using a Asrock Sis 746 fx with a xp2500 barton) it's a good motherboard. It uses the Sis746 chipset so will handle the barton no problem. Anyway here is a review of the ECS L7S7A2 for you to read:-

If the ECS is anything like my Asrock motherboard then it really benefits from bios updates to improve performance, stability has never been a problem with my motherboard so I can't comment on that.
