The FX5600 is a decent mid-range card, arguably not as good as an ATI 9500/9600, but still good.

Can I believe that I will be able to run Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 smoothly? Or do you guys think I will need to upgrade to a higher end card when the two are released?

Keep in mind I'm running a 2.4ghz P4 with Hyper-Threading technology, I have 512mb of pc2700 RAM and will probably be upping it to 1012mb by the end of the month.
 
this is as all is at this point in time speculation:

it will run HL2 fine at normal detail settings (no AA, AF).
it will run Doom3 very well at minimal detail settings (no AA, AF).

higher settings with either game will likely be 'bothersome'.
 
I don't know about overclocking. I know nothing about all that stuff. I would really need to talk to my friend and see what he thinks about it.

I probably will end up upgrading the card once the better ones come down in price though.
