I bought a 43x60 chairmat, for medium pile carpets, but frankly it sucks. My weight plus that of the chair is <200 lbs, but after sitting in one position for a while, the mat gets dented and this makes it very difficult to move, thus defeating the purpose of the mat. Does anyone know of a mat that will not dent or form grooves with 200 lbs of weight on it?

BWT I paid something like 60 dollars for it, since the 20 dollar one i had before was an absolute piece of trash, and was too small anyways. I guess it might work for those rinky-dink task chairs, but most of the weight comes from the person, not the chair.

I think I'll just get a thick piece of plywood or something instead...

Those mats are just useless. Just get a 1/2in piece thick of partical board at Home Depot, put some cheap linoelium on it. Like sliding on tiles. Very durable too.

Yep, chair mats are worthless on deep pile carpeting with thick padding underneath (what most homes have). They really are only effective on the industrial berber carpet with thin padding you find in office buildings.

Sorry you had to find that out the hard way. :(

I bought one of those same ones, but I got it for $15 at a clearance.
I'm 250lb's myself and it doesn't dent much, but when the chair sits there overnight it gets dented.

*sigh*

Well it depends... if it's on really plush carpet, it will get dented unless you get some extremely thick ones.

Well, it's better than carpet, and I can't return it. It's somewhat effective, so I guess I'll keep it until I can buy something better and sell this one.
