Did I get jipped?

I just bought 2 sticks of the CM618DR256-800 (800MHZ 256MB ECC RAMBUS RIMM CORSAIR BRAND). I am planning to slap it in my new TH7-II RAID mobo.

Anyhow, according to the sticks # they are both the same, but when you look at them one has 8 chips and the other has 16. Is that normal? I'm assuming thats what they are since one stick has heat spreaders on both sides and the other has a spreader only on 1 side.

Did I get jipped and will thye work in the TH7-II, or should I be demanding an exchange?

has long has they are they same size it should work. The only reason for the extra chips is because each of those chips are smaller in the amount of memory vs the other stick.

ex

64 Mbp vs 128 Mbp. You need half has many 128 Mbp modules has you do 64.

I hope so.. I haven't tried them yet and will be soon.. According to Corsair and the Abit manual, it asks that the modules be exaclty the same since Rambus needs to be installed in pairs..

Any other gurus out there with suggestions, or possible comments on performance and such?

Please help..

well i guess thats another reason i dont buy corsair.

cant trust them at all.

but if they are the same size then they should work

you shouldnt have problems unless they arent the same size (ie they made a mistake)

Yea, they're the same size, same part number, same everything, except the number of chips on each.

I guess the only way to find out now is to slap it in..

I guess it's like the old EDO RAM then? I just thought Rambus was more picky..
