I thought thats a good deal. Well I tried it out today since I got it for my mom as part of her Birthday which was today. Well I find out that this ain't(at least I think) a Lightscribe drive. I looked at other sites for this model and it's not listed as such like buy.com has it. Also Lightscribe software will not detect the drive.

Anyone got this drive and can confirm its def not Lightscribe? Also will Buy.com do right on it even though its been past 14 days since I bought it?

Buy.com specs are not to be trusted. They had a Sandisk music player that took _micro_ SD cards for memory that they listed it as _mini_ SD instead, and didn't correct it until after buyers complained in the customer reviews.

If someone like CDFreaks or Newegg says it's lightscribe then you might just need to update your software, otherwise yes you've been burned.

If they don't fix it I'll just call my CC company to see if anything can be done about it. I can't believe they are able to get away with this. She already has a burner and now I am gonna have to buy her another for their stupid mistake. I'll never buy from them again(EVER).

ALWAYS research an item before you purchase it. That's a rebadged Lite-on SHW-160P6S, so buy the SHM-165H6S (lightscribe + dvd-ram) instead for ~$38 shipped

Even though it's OEM it comes with Nero 6 and PowerDVD

Just keep it as a secondary drive. It's not like you're out a lot of money and you should have caught the error sooner. :p You could always email buy.com customer support to explain their error in the description and see if they'll work with you.
