Did I get a Ticket? or am I safe?

I was at a four way intersection. It was green, and I needed to make a left. I went into the intersection preparing to make a left. It was busy this morning so there were alot of cars. I got stuck in the intersection and was forced to make my left on red.

It was at a four way intersections with the cameras. Do you think Ill get a ticket? There was no way I couldve made a safe left before the lights turned yellow. Too many cars etc...

More research....So I found this:

SOLID GREEN- A green light means ?GO? but first give the right of way to any vehicle, bicyclist, or pedestrian in the intersection. If you are turning left, make the turn only if you have enough space to complete the turn before any oncoming vehicle, bicyclist, or pedestrian becomes a hazard. Do not enter the intersection if you cannot get completely across before the light turns red. If you block the intersection, you can be cited.

IF they mail you a ticket with a photo of your offense, just mail them a picture of a check for the payment of the fine.

I didn't think the cameras worked like that... at least they've never got me on it. Not sure if they'll snap a car that's not actually running the light.

If you were in the intersection before the light went red, you are fine - they need to show a picture of you out of the intersection, with the light red, and one of you in it, with the light red (and a time index that shows the light couldn't have been green in between the two photos) or they won't be able to make the charge stick.

If what you really mean is you were the third or fourth car to turn left after the light started to change, then no, you aren't safe.

...I was the first car preparing for the turn. I was leading the yielded car. Im new to the city...im actually a country boy, so these lights with cameras are freaking me out

not sure if your local system is anything like mine but i got a ticket in the mail for going through a toll without paying. the only problem was the picture was of a white m3 and i drive a black prelude. note really sure how that happened but i just called the number and told them it was not my car, end of story.

If you passed the crosswalk (if there was one) before the light turned red, you are fine. If you accelerated after the light turned red before you passed the crosswalk, you're screwed.

Correct. I live right at the corner where the cameras are and so if I look out the window I can see the flashes. The camera has to flash if you got caught. No flash, don't worry. My friend saw a flash once when he was driving, but he saw a car behind him, and so it turned out he never got the ticket.... Probably the guy behind...

I think Im safe! On green, I took off to middle of the intersection to prepare for my turn....wooohooo...i think ill sleep a little better...

They take 2 pictures. 1 sec before the red light and 1 after. If you were in the intersection when they took the first picture, you are fine.

If you are first in line at a green light that is "left turn yield on green" then you SHOULD move your car forward into the intersection. That is what you are supposed to do.

Around here if you don't you will be stuck at the intersection FOREVER.

You're not technically supposed to enter an intersection unless its clear and you can make it through, atleast in California.

Here is the problem with that...at least where I am. The light turns green. You get a stream of cars oncoming that does not stop and inevitably there will be 1 or 2 cars go through after the light turns red. Wash rinse repeat and you will never be able to turn left.

Now...we don't have cameras here either and this town is horrible about red lights. It's common to have 2-3 cars keep going through after the light turns red on some of the main streets.
