I bought a nice black suit a couple years ago. I wore it a few times last year to a few weddings. The jacket was a size 38. I have another wedding to go to in a few weeks and I went to try on my suit, and it was like trying on spandex without the stretch. I went out today to look for a new suit. Im a size 44 now. Jesus. I bought two suits, and a white button down dress shirt for $550 including custom alterations that I needed on both suits. Did I get a good deal? One suit is grey and it's a Chaps Ralph Lauren suit and the other is black and it's Jones New York.

As long as your happy with it, thats what counts. I used to like the mens warehouse to buy my 42 regulars, but otherwise unless its a funeral or wedding, Ive no need for suits.

I want to check out Joseph A. Bank next.

You made a deal but you didn't GET a deal.

Damn, thats what I started thinking when I got home.

I've bought suits that look really nice for ~$100. I got complimented on my navy pinstrip one. But thats just me. I rarely ever wear suits so I don't spend much on them.

What really matters is the fit and quality. Only you can say whether it fits, and quality on less expensive suits is getting much better. There was a good article in the wall street journal some months ago about suits, check it out if you have a subscription to the site or factiva.
