I got the 64meg with 3.5 nanosecond ram version and using it with an epox kt266a and athlon xp 1800 running windox XP. I am experiencing random game drop outs (game will crash to desktop) or the entire screen will just show visual artifacts. Just rebooting does not cure the artifacts, but turning the system off and then back on will help it. The card is running at stock speed and has never been overclocked. I got the card from newegg and it was still shrinkwrapped. Is what I'm experiencing a common error that is fixeable or did I just get a defective sample?

Do a search on this forum; I recall some product problems being posted on the Gainward Ti4200 cards. (not with the Ti4400 or Ti4600, however). RMA it.

Search around the various news forums and you will find that your problems are common with that card. The Gainward 64mb card seems to have a problem with the memory, as far as I had been able to find. The 128mb Golden sample uses different memory and does not have the problem, only the 64mb version. The user reviews at newegg appear to support this. About 6 weeks ago, I bought 2 Golden Sample 128mb cards from newegg and both run problem free, even when run in performance mode. When I bought the 128mb cards, they were only $5 more than the 64mb version. The 64mb version has somewhat tarnished the image of Gainward. Unfortunately, many people don't differentiate between the 64mb and 128mb versions when talking about the problem. If possible, try to exchange your 64mb card for a 128mb card and you should be ok.
