I bought a bunch of Gateway DX Desktopsthat came with Seagate 2TB ST20000DM001 HDDs. I've noticed they all made strange squeaking sounds once in a while. I figure maybe they are normal for this series. But I hard a much hard sqeel today and my 100GB VMware file gave me a fatal error after windows ran a scandisk at bootup. Looking at SMART are as follows: HDD 1 Raw Read Error Rate HEX:0000000490-6150 DEC:1168 Seek Error Rate HEX:0000000014-75E4 DEC: 20 HDD2 Raw Read Error Rate HEX:0000000D51-2CE8 DEC:3409 Seek Error Rate HEX:0000000009-F436 DEC:9 HDD3 Raw Read Error Rate HEX:0000000482-6610 DEC: 1154 Seek Error Rate HEX00000004B-D9BD DEC:75 was the vmware a fluke or should i worry about the other drives too?
