Did I do well on this used Latitude L400?

I've been in the market for a used laptop for a while now, and while browsing, I saw this under the $500 mark w/ 1 minute left and decided to snipe it. Picked it up for $490 + $17.99 shipping, plus it has about 270 days left of "Complete Care".

I basically just wanted it for a portable DVD player and a decent computer I can haul around to remotely connect to my PC at home (my gf's desktop is awefully slow).

You did okay, especially if it still has 270 days of complete care. Thats the best part, now drop it and get dell to give you a D400 to replace it :)

Just kidding about the dropping it part.

Not a bad deal, but no barnburner either. It's going to suck as a portable dvd player though, because the dvd drive is external.

Enjoy the external DVD and doghouse.

No real pics on the page is not a good thing, all the L400's I have seen are from Exec's and they beat on them pretty hard

Not too bad, but not the best. You might have been happier if you would have picked up the C400 deal in hot deals. But if you only had $500, this isn't a bad deal.

Yeah, I thought about that, which is why I waited for so long to jump on a C600 that their Ebay Store has tons of, but they all end at around $600, plus it's slightly thicker.

Yep, the ones in Hot Deals are great, but everytime I configured one, I would always add more RAM, get the larger Vid cards, DVD/CDRW combo, etc etc and drove the price up to 1.2 to 1.5 k.

Make sure you get the warranty transferred by the guy you're buying it from. Don't wait until you have a problem and you gotten get the original person to change it for you. He may not be around any more.
