***Swerving = no signal, just swerving into the lanes ***

Basically in outline format:

- 7 lane highway @ 35 mph (<-- Speed Limit Aurora Ave for the Seattlites)
- The furthest right lane on both directions are usually right turn lanes only, or they have parked cars, leaving 5 lanes ( the middle lane is a left turn lane)
- While driving ~ 4-5 mph over the speed limit, a car comes out and swerves into my lane to pass a car (I'm left lane, and the car is already going @ speed limit)
- When he swerves back to pass the car, he almost hits my taillight, in which I had to accelerate to avoid getting hit while driving.
- He accelerates ahead of me in the adjacent lane
- I shake my head, he must've looked in his side mirror, rolled down his window just enough to stick his hand out to give me the finger
- Since I had to go into a left turn lane (the middle lane of the HWY, I did nothing)

I don't believe that the left lane is used for passing in this scenario, in which I'd either get 1)STAY ON THE RIGHT or 2)He's a <fill with negative word here>

Which is it?

Diagram
Google Maps
Diagram.

***Diagram comments
- Occured all occured before an intersection
- I had to go into the left turn lane at the intersection (I'm not 100 feet to signal my intent)
- Since when is there passing in a 35 mph zone?

Left lane is to pass. Get the fudge out of the left lane if you are not passing.

It's really that simple.

While riding my bicycle on two lane roads I have given the finger occasionally to drivers who didn't give me the right of way, or also came within inches of hitting me. They got at least a fraction of what they deserved.

Re-read your OP.

Get the F out of the left lane unless you are passing.

-edit-

The most obvious question is....

"when did you signal your left turn intentions?"

My bet, is you didn't.

GTFout of the left lane.

GTFout of the left lane.

He isn't on the interstate, Brainiac. The fact that he is getting into the left turn lane shows that.

I would happily drive below the speed limit in front of you in the left lane.
With my blinker on for good measure.

You're on his road. Be glad he even gives you the privilege of using it.

Left lane is for passing.

Driving in this lane, without signaling (OP needs to clarify this, if he signaled, he's fine, if not, then wrong).

^Was not 100 feet away for signal of intent ^

If he signaled (that little thing on the dash to communicate direction/intent) then OP is purely correct and other guy is a douchebag. If not, reverse the rolls.

-edit-
I'm not that much of a douchebag, just use your freaking turn signal. I don't care where you are, if you signal your intent I will do whatever I can to accommodate your direction/intent.

That's what those little lights are for...."Hey! I'm trying to go over here!"
"please, be my guest, after you."

You don't seem to care if the other guy signaled.

Sorry. :(

If you signaled, the other guys is a douchebag. If you did not.......

Sorry if I get on a rant, but turn signals are REALLY GOOD at providing other drivers where you want to go. Use them and "good drivers" will pay attention. Hand signals never hurt either.

A little "hey, I wanna go there", "sorry if I didn't pay attention but I would like to turn", "*wave* Thanks!"

Why does the OP need to signal at all if he is already in the lane he wants to be in?

if its a 35 mph local parkway, like in the diagram... in traffic...someone can ride my ass...flip me off... all they want if i'm in left lane and eventually needing to turn left.
i really feel bad for them having to pass me on the right or me making them wait an extra 15 secs. really...i do.

the freeways are of course a completely different situation.
