Well,

The card was already halfway messed up. lines all over the screen cause by another users attemt to put on ram heazinks to cool the card. in this attemp he somehow made contact somewhere between the legs on the ram chips. It was trying to clean this up that i messed up. i accidently broke of one of the little capasitors right next to one of the ram chips. The card works just as good/bad as before so im just wondering how bad missing one of theese are??

also. i have tri9ed a million things to clean theese ram chips to get rid of the lines but with no luck. any good ideas of how to fix this?? can i soak it in alcohol??

thanks alot

Mylle

can i soak it in alcohol

Sure, I'm soaking my home stereo as I type this...., NOT!. Whatever you do, DONT, do that. 😉

actually, dip a tooth brush in alcohol and brush the "dirty" parts of the video card down...i cleaned a whole laptop out like that after i had coffee spill in it :Q

i had put a thermaltake heatspreader kit on to a stick of ram using the tape thermaltake provides (big mistake!). i ended up soaking the stick in acetone and then isoprobyl alcohol to get the crap off. the ram works perfectly. you should be fine soaking it in a volatile liquid like alcohol.
