Did I delete this dual boot properly??

I had a dual boot system w/ Win98 and XP running just fine for about a year, and decided to use the 20gb hdd that Win98 was on for another computer build.

I used Partition Magic 8.0 and Boot Magic (installed on the FAT32 Win98 hdd) to create the dual boot. To remove the dual boot, I selected Boot Magic to load XP on startup- a Boot Magic pop-up indicated that the previous MBR would be restored. I made sure that worked fine by rebooting- it was fine. I was afraid the MBR on the XP hdd would get hosed by doing this, but it loads fine without giving me the choice of what OS to load. I pulled the cables on the 98 drive where Boot Magic was installed and XP still boots up fine.

I was very surprised this worked without a hitch, because I've been told this would be difficult to do with a 3rd party utility such as Boot Magic.

Is there anything I need to check to make sure some gremlins won't haunt me later, before I format the 98 hdd for another build??

It's been a while since I did this but let's see if my memory serves me correctly.

On your XP drive, in the root should be a file called boot.ini (it may be hidden) Open it up and there may be a line describing Windows 98 like C:\Windows or something like that. Delete that line, but if it's not there, you've got it working fine.
