He just sent me a PM thanking me for crapping in his thread, did I?

If anything I would count that as a good word for the 675, and the information I gave is 100% correct.

Crapping in the thread? I don't think so. Maybe because with you in there he wasn't the only one posting in there any more? He really didn't want help? I don't know.

I posted a thread trying to trade or sell my cisco 675 and you crapped all over my thread.
What gives?
I figured that someone with the amount of posts you have and the time you have been on the board would know not to crapp all over someones thread.

I'm debating how to reply, I just want to make sure I'm not out of line before I tell him what I think.

Gregg, he posted the thread looking for help. You tried to help him. He's accusing you of thread crapping? Come on. He either needs to grow up, learn how to NOT post threads, or make sure he knows what you mean before he accuses you of crapping in his thread.

Just my $0.02.

It could be that he got pissed because you mentioned a bad quality about that router (that it doesn't work with DMT). But that is IMO useful information. Definitely no thread-crapping!

I wouldn't call it so much a bad quality, as it simply wasn't intended to work with DMT. The newer 678 works with DMT, & can be flashed to work with CAP as well. Unfortunately the 675 can't be flashed to work with DMT.

I certainly didn't intend it as a negative, though, just a heads up.

The guy is on crack. You helped him out by not having to take abck a cable modem froma buyer who does not do his homework. I would have done the same thing.

Yes there is, and I doubt that is the response Gregg was looking for.

i would say its a small carp, in that your info is more help to buyers than the seller

it is up to the buyer to research what they are buying/ask questions of the seller

unsolicited input that reduces the number of potential buyers, be they informed or non-informed isn't helping him sell his item

if he isn't trying to sell broken stuff, i don't think the seller has to point out every flaw/downside of an item, you don't see advertisements listing all the bad things about a product, do you?

if the seller is smart he will drop the whole thing, let the thread fall away (which it will do quickly in for sale/trade) and then repost it in a few days, or even just go sell it on another forum

just my newbie trader $0.01

*EDIT*
i just noticed he took 9 days to respond to vipers post, that was DUMB, he should have let it go and started a new thread instead of posting to it and pointing out the whole thing in public, dumb move by that dude, not a good way to sell things

No, I didn't mean to imply that the router itself is of bad quality. Just that it does well what it's designed to do (to work with CAP), and that it doesn't work with DMT. That feature could be thought as a negative thing, and he might be just annoyed that you mentioned that fact. But being annoyed because of something like that is his problem. Providing additional (and accurate) information is not a bad thing, even if that information just mentions what that particular device cannot do.
