Did I connect my tv tuner card to my sound card correctly?

Hi,

I was connecting my tv tuner card to my sound card and I think I got it connected to, but before i plug in the power.. Question.. the connector from the tv tuner card has two possible connectors to the sound card spaced three or so inches apart.. one is black which connected ok, the other is a white one.. four pin.. which I could not identify a home for on the sound card..

do TV tuner cards usually come with one or two audio connectors to the sound card?

Do I need to connect the white one somewhere?

Dvico HDTV5 RT Gold TV Tuner card.. one audio out that splits into two potential different connectors.. one, the black I found a home for in aux audio in on the HDA X-Plosion sound card, the other, a white one.. I would like to know what to do with..



 
Some TV tuner cards let you connect the analog audio cable from the CDROM to the TV card - you use that in case your mainboard or sound card has just one internal connection.

If your sound solution has a CDROM input as well as an AUX, you leave the CDROM cable where it is, and connect the TV card to the AUX input.

You'll have to configure your TV card's software to control the input you chose, and that's all.
 
MY QUESTION IS AND WAS WHAT DO I DO WITH THE OTHER CABLE AND CONNECTION THAT IS COMING FROM THE SOUND CARD


SINGLE CABLE SPLITS INTO TWO CABLES. I USED THE ONE WITH BLACK ENDING CONNECTOR, BUT THE SECOND CABLE COMING FROM THE SAME AUDIO OUT CABLE IS NOT BEING USED, DOES IT NEED TO BE? WHAT WOULD A SECOND SPLIT OFF CABLE AND CONNECTOR BE USED FOR?
 
You have to plug audio in to your sound card from the tv tuner? Didn't need to do so with Hauppage PVR 250. Definatly a different card, but its my two cents.
 
Ah, now I got you (and stop SHOUTING) ... looks like your cable (like many CDROM audio cables) has alternate plugs for the same thing - big flat one for today's usual connector, and smaller white notched one for the less usual type of audio header. Using either one is fine - whatever fits your sound input.
 
Greg: Many of today's TV cards can feed the audio digitally through the PCI bus - however, an impressive amount of software doesn't handle that, insisting that TV sound be available from the system's central audio engine. Yes this sucks.
