Did I choose the wrong major?

I am going to start my sophomore year in Mechanical Engineering this year. Over these past two years, I've discovered i want to go into the HVAC field when i graduate (or more in general building environmental systems and technology, i.e. keeping rooms cool/warm). I thought ME would provide me a path to enter this field and my advisor even told me that you can get into it through ME. But when i was packing today i found my undergraduate academic catalog and ended up reading about Architectural Engineering. They specficially split their major into 3 fields, one being building enivronmental systems. So did i choose the wrong major? maybe my advisor isn't that sure about ME going into building enivronmental systems? argh i'm so confused now. I don't want to waste more time and money.

ME is in big demand right now BTW. 🙂

Don't know if it will be by the time you graduate, but probably even better then. ME is infinitely expandable for most ENG jobs, too.

FYI Mechanical Engineers can do just about ANYTHING. For cooling and heating stuff MechE is the way to go. I'm 4th year ME and we have done a little bit of everything. This year I get to work on concentration type stuff so if I wanted to I could get into environmental or aerospace or automotive etc etc.

hmm that is a sigh of relief. I was getting worried i went down the wrong path 🙁

nope, you're on the right path, just keep going, and there should be some hvac and probably refridgeration courses as well that you may find interesting
