I have the ECS K7S5A with tbird ajhya 1.33 w/ a 133 fsb, 512 mb of Corsair DDRRam and a geforce MX videocard. much of that shouldn't be relevant. anyway, i went to bios screen and there was no keyboard response so i turned comp off and turned it back on now i get blank screen. absolutely nothing. i've cleared the cmos and still i get nothing. any ideas?

You can try resetting videocard memory and other cards or test your processor in another M/B.

Did you try this ?

<< If you tried clearing your CMOS and still can't re-boot then this is something you can try.
I read about it in one of the posts here but it is not mentioned very frequently.
To succesfully clear the CMOS:
-unplug the main power.
-unplug the power to the motherboard.
-completely remove JP1.
-clear the CMOS (short pins 1-2 on JP4 leaving it there for at least 30 seconds)
-move JP4 back to its original position and then JP1 back to its original position.
- plug the power cords back in you should be running.
This has worked for me several times. I hope this helps someone. >>

No, it takes like 30 seconds MAX. to clear the CMOS.

that is a strange thing indeed... I had a CUSL2 that sometimes wouldn't power on and I'd have to wait and re-try it again in a few mins.. happened only 3 times in almost a year but was still very strange!

It's working okay now though??

If you blew your motherboard I think you'd know it...if not check for scratches inside your mouth.
