Did I accidentally overclock my system?

I have a 1.8 ghz 64 bit AMD processor. My mobo came with a utility called EasyTune5. I was checking it out and it has this go button. So I clicked it, now the bus speed is up to 201 and the windows system config shows the ghz as 1.81. Is this normal? Is my system overclocked?

I know it's not a lot compared to what some people do but the point is I don't want it overclocked AT ALL. How do I make sure my system is definitely at normal clock speeds?

Easy Tune 5 is gigabytes overclocking utility...so yeah, if you were playing with it, you probably overclocked...but 1.81 is not an overclock, the FSB never stays at an exact speed, so it will fluctuate by that much on it's own anyway..

You must be an OT or FS/T guy. I mean 7000 posts and you are that paraniod about 1 mghz over specs. No, that is not considered overclocking in any circles.

I have easytune on the lowest setting. Doesn't go any lower but still having 1.81. I could swear it use to say 1.8 though in the windows system panel. Sure is easy to overclock these days.. I thought you had to use jumpers and stuff... almost too easy!

I don't care if 10 mhz will hurt. I just want it at default speeds. Doesn't overclocking void the warranty for the CPU?

CpuZ says core speed is 1809 and the memory frequency is 201. How can I counter this userspace app? It won't go any lower and I don't see any option to disable it. Does it communicate directly with the mobo?

my CPU is clocked at 2009 MHz right now

This is not because of a program. Different mobos vary slightly with cwith different clock speed. Its OK. Your not overclocked. Its running at its default setting

Every time I reboot the app says that it's in fact at 201 for memory. Then when I set it back it doesn't actually do it. So the POS doesn't seem to be able to go back. Great.

Anyone know of any other userspace apps that will set bus speeds?

LOOK. That is my CPU. ITS NOT OVERCLOCKED. Its ok just leave it. Motherboards don't run their procs always at the exact value. You will not void your warrenty if you leave it like this.

IF you're that concerned can't you uninstall the application, go to bios and set your FSB setting to its default value and square everything up that way?

...wow
Yeah, what everyone else says, I have the same motherboard and stock, not overclocked, it runs at like 1808mhz.
Just go into the BIOS and selected AUTO for the FSB if you don't believe us.

That is an Uber OC! Are you using phase change cooling or something?

I thought I had my system tuned pretty good, but I can't get over 2.6GHz.

Not to be a dick, but so what if it does void the warranty? It's not like your processor is that expensive to begin with. You have a low-end 64bit AMD. The replacement cost is low enough to where it's almost cost-ineffective to have AMD repair it even if it were to die.

Relax.

Many people have said it and many more will. Mobosd doesnt run Exact bus speeds. 200 Mhz on one mobo might just aswell be 199.5 Mhz and that would make your cpu running 1796 Mhz or thereabouts. then people would be here complaining about the cpu is underclocking. As in your case the speed runs 201 Mhz. even if its the progs fault (doubt it) it will not void your warranty because many mobos run the fsb that speed. there's even some mobos that run it at 202 mhz by default.

I think you've probably broke the worl record or somthing for the lowest OC! That gotta be worth somthing. Another thing that's worth somthing, is seeing the faces of the tech support guys at AMD when you call'em up and tell them you fryed your A64 with a 10Mhz OC.

ROFL!!!

Yeah its a POS! LoL!!!

Sorry I don't mean to put you down, but like others are saying... THIS ISN'T OVERCLOCKING. This is completely normal, the speeds will fluctuate. My 2.2 will read 2199-2201 or w/e. It's not OC'd!!! That's just how they work LoLOL~~~

Fine. It isn't overclocking. I just like to have control over my system.

I swear before it said 1.8 ghz. The bios shows 200. Why does the software show 201? Is the software wrong or the bios?

I was under the impression that with Easytune, any overclocking you do is only temporary until you reboot the PC. Perhaps I am wrong but I'll check.

if you want your speed to read 1.8 try setting your bios settings to 10x180 ... not exactly sure but that might actually make it run at 1.8 exactly. give it a try it doesnt hurt :)

set your multiplier to 10 and your fsb to 180 instead of 9x200 which i believe is what it's at right now, correct?
