I am sure you will hear about it when the two crazy bastards who kidnapped her go to trial.

What else is to hear about until then?

also, reports arose that more than a simple abduction occured, and the family didnt really want to bring it to light. so it was buried to spare the family i suppose (press being nice, what is this country coming to?)

That's what people at my job are thinking.

I think alot of it had to do with the fact that the girl was so messed up, they didn't want alot of people making a big deal over her, and making her recovery worse. I am sure someday there will be an udat.

That's what I suspected but wasn't sure. I think she must have had plenty of opportunities to escape her captors.

Maybe the parents pushed her too hard. Come on, what kid actually LIKES playing the harp? Throw in a tough religious indoctrination ("You'll let Jesus down if you give up the harp") and you've got yourself a brainwashed teen who is looking for a way to just be a kid.

Why did that story get buried?

Were you expecting a national holiday or something? It's over. Move along with your life.

She was abducted - now she's home safe. Wonderful. The rest of it is none of our business.

Federal crimes are everyone's business, hence they are held in a public court. Once the case goes to court the circumstances, accusations, crimes committed, verdict, and sentencing will all be made public.

Was talking to my wife about this just day before yesterday. Iraq is possibly the best thing that could happen for the Smart folks.

That business of her family insisting that she play the harp her first night back home even though she didn't want to just freaks me out.

IMO, the less we see of Salt Lake City folks on TV, the better. Those folks just give me the creeps.

Also keep in mind that she didn't really want to go home. They said that when she was questioned, she pretended to be someone else. Sign right there that she didn't want to go home. Probably in love with the guy who kidnapped her. She's not going to lead a normal life like some people want to believe. She'll be back in the news again soon enough. Just wait.
