Did compiz just go bye-bye?

Did a dist-upgrade like I always do, and it prompted me to remove csm, compiz-manager, etc. But, it update compiz-core and compiz-gnome. Now compiz doesn't run anymore.

This a problem on my end only?

When I tried to use 'apt-get dist-upgrade' from Breezy to Dapper it totally wrecked my system. I did a fresh install of Dapper.

I've been on dapper for a while now, and I do a dist-upgrade every day and have never had a problem like this. I'd reinstall compiz, but I'm wondering if maybe it's not a problem for just me, and I should just wait.

You're not supposed to use dist-upgrade except for when you're actually switching distributions...

Your best bet would be to get used to aptitude and use it, that way you can make any changes manually before commiting them.
