Did Bush have a 9/11 warning? This will answer the question.

If someone knows this it will answer the question if members of the administration knew an airline attack was highly possible. Do immediate family members of the President, Vice President and cabinet members fly commercial or military?

There was testimony that the intelligence community had many warnings during the summer of 2001. The Bush girls would have been off to college during this time. If they flew commercial I would be satistied the administration did not know anything. If the Bush girls or other high administration family members normally fly commercial and changed to military then the rest of public should have recieved that same warning.

Also there is a story that John Ashcroft took a private Gulfstream jet on a golf trip during the summer of 2001. Attorney Generals normally fly commercial. I'm looking for the link.

They get 50 terrorists threats per week. If you expet them to take each and every one of them seriously every time, then you'd better be prepared to start giving the government 110% of your paycheck every year.

Look what happened to the economy when the airline system was shut down for two days.

Now imagine the choas if it was shut down every time a threat was received.

then expand it to include rail & key bridges.

It is faster to shut down than start up. It took the ATC system closed to a week to get back to normal.

You need a credible threat against a specific target to react. Otherwise the terror system wins the game is you react to every possible situation

That actually doesn't change the validity of his argument...if the Bush girls didn't fly commercial during the summer it does stand to reason that there was a threat that he felt was real AND knew about. Its really only circumstancial since they could have been flying that way for a number of reasons (assuming that they actually WERE) but I would still be interested to know.

It would be insane to even think someone would know or even think this would happen and do nothing about, Any president

I agree. It is asinine to play this sort of blame game with any president. If for some reason, someone comes across good information that proves a president knowingly let someone attack us on our own turf, I'll be outraged. In the meantime, I think it is much more meaningful to figure out how to better protect ourselves from this sort of thing in the future.

Here is a link to the Ashcroft story(flying private jet instead of the usual commercial).

If I were president, or if I had enough money to own a private jet, I would never fly commerical, much less allow my family to do so. I don't think your theory proves a thing.

If you want to know the absolute truth about what any politican says, look at their personal lives. The story says "there was a threat assesment" and "there were no specific thrests against any cabinet member". If Bush or other hign administration officials were changing their families flying arraingments based on these "threst assesments" this information should have been provided to the public. That is why I am asking the question.

Actually Bush is largely responsible for the blame game in this case. Bush's campaign is based largely on his image of protecting the country. Yet after 9/11, he adamantly opposed (publicly) to a Homeland Security Department. Ultimately we did get the DHS but arguably it was delayed by months due to the method with which Bushies cobbled it together in secret and then told the Congress . . . take it or leave it . . . but only a traitor would leave it.

In 2002 he was adamantly opposed to a 9/11 commission. He only folded . . . oops I mean flip-flopped . . . oops I mean led the appointment of a commission when the political heat became too much to ignore.

The answers to certain questions: what did people know, when did they know it, and what did they do about it? are integral to the effort of protecting the country from future attacks. Yet this administration has a record of being less than forthcoming. Contrary to popular belief amongst Bushies, the Executive is not government . . . it's just a part of government . . . and the intent of the Framers was for it to be a comparatively weak one. Bushies have turned that principle on its ear . . . but to the victor go the spoils . . . and the responsibility.
