Did AT lose anybody in the tsunami?

I know we have some posters from Thailand - I'm not aware of anyone from India but I'm sure we have some. Roll call, you guys? We'd like to know you're okay. 🙁

Co worker of mine is from Sri Lanka... He reported everyone okay thankfully...

Hopefully no one replies to this post saying they have lost someone... so sad... 🙁

No issues that I know of. My dad just left for thailand on Monday to. I have some friends there as well. They are ok. They are well inland away from the island.

That is excellent news. 🙂

One of our family friends' relatives died in it in India

They were throwing the new year's party and cancelled it because of what has happened

Fortunately my family is fine

OK quick - anyone who died in the tsunami that frequents AT forums, post here!

*cough*

doesn't really work. No other good way to do it, too many users (100k) to notice when a couple have gone missing. Closest you could hope for is if they have family/friends that are also AT members.

It has happened before.

HawkeyeNJ went missing right after 9/11 -- but it was uncertain of why -- it caused major concern here.

She's just concerned, no need to be a prick about it. If you think being a smarta$$ here, in this thread, is going to make you friends because of your incredible wit, think again.

how was that tasteless? email snippet he sent me after the tsunami:

"Hey guys, I am alright. I am in Hong Kong now. We just arrived. We were actually swimming off a beach at Ko pha ngan (full moon party area) when the tsunami hit. Luckily we were in the gulf a thailand and not in the Indian Ocean. We were originally going to go to Phuket but changed our plans because of the full moon party. We got lucky."

My prayers to all involved......

Just because *I* don't know everyone who posts from Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, etc, doesn't mean that they aren't known by others on the forums. Somebody else very well may say, "so-and-so is from the coast area of India and I haven't heard from them since it happened."

Why is he an inconsiderate asshole?

I'm glad we haven't really heard any bad personal news from that area given the magnitude of the number of deaths over there.

I was just thinking the other day...Imagine how you would have felt if you called in sick to your job on the 90th floor of the world trade center on 09/11/01...especially if you were actually just screwing around instead of sick

He has a point. He's not making fun of anyone. Stop throwing around insults just because someone is rational in light of a tragedy.

For trying to be a smarta$$ in a thread that is trying to see if everyone is safe and alive?
