Did you see the part on counterfeiting? That's crazy. Have you ever come across a counterfeited bill?

I've heard of people trying to buy drugs with it, but I've never came across one so far... Hope I don't ever.

Nope, didn't see that 20/20 last night... too bad, sounds like a good episode too.

Anyways, yes, i've run into counterfeit money. LOTS of different kind. Some are extremely high quality, and it's almost impossible to tell teh difference visually. Then there are some crappy ones that you wouldn't even fool the blind.

Hm, yeah, i've known of people that tried using them to buy drugs... not very smart though, since the person you're buying drugs from normally knows you pretty well. Unless you're buying crack on street corners.

But it's hard to move large denomination nowadays though. Even bars, which use to be the easiest places to use counterfeit money, now have blacklight that can catch the counterfeits (i've heard of some really high counterfeits that can actually fool those... this is Cdn currency, i don't know if USD have the little dots on the bills to stop the counterfeit).

I was wondering how the hell do they print it on both sides perfectly? Isn't that hard?

When I use to work at software etc during xmas time it was pretty funny the assisatant manager accepted a bucnh of 20 dollar bills. Only later did she realize that the president in the middle was George Washington. I mean how many people actually look at the preseident.

ROFL!

I notice though, when I go and spend big bills, they usually check my bills with the little highlighter pen thing.

What kind of idiot would make counterfeit bills with such a huge discrepency?

No... with a computer and printer, it's very easy to align it. With a copier, you'll need a template/stencil to align it, but that's not hard either.

I've even heard of people that had used plates to do printing... that way it's actually pressed on, and you even get the ridges in the paper. But this requires a printing press though, which could be hard if you don't work at one.

With the new bill designs, there are two very easy and fast ways to check for a genuine bill. First is the security thread which you can see easily by holding the bill up to the light. The location of the thread is different for different denominations. While you are holding it up, look for the watermark. Those two features are not going to be on a counterfeit bill.

The Secret Service is catching many people who think it would be a kick to print counterfeit bills on their home inkjet printer or on a color copier. They don't realize what a serious crime it is.

I'm quite sure that i've unknowingly handled many counterfiet bills, only one I did come across that I did notice though. It was a 10 $ bill that looked pretty damn new and good... only problem was that it was made in 1950.

Beep, wrong answer. ;)

Go to your local Kinko's, find a DocuColor 12 or a DocuColor Series 50, and try to copy a dollar bill. Heck, even a passport will work. :) You'll get a kick out if when you see what happens.
