Ohhhhhhhh, that "crazy scene"! Could you be more vague? Did you see that movie from last year with that guy in it? Yah that one!

That movie was boring claptrap that made me want to wretch. It was all I could do to force myself through it, continually searching for even a grain of redeeming value. What a profound waste of the skills of a once talented director. Apparently, dementia had set in by the time Kubrick made this one.

What was to understand? You wanted to be one of the guys with the mask. Don't deny it. This was the point of the scene. Personally I liked the music it was totally farked up.

Isnt that what I said?...:D...if youve actually reached that part of the movie and was still waiting for a story... that weird scene should've told you already that you're not gonna find any. Sheesh.

Here's a summary of your brain activity while you are watching that show:

First 30 Minutes: "What the f*** is going on???"
3/4 of the way through: "What the f*** am I watching???"
After the movie: "What the f*** did I just watch???"

This show was definitely a wast of film and time. Stanley Kubrick was in no way a genius when it came ot movie inspirations. This film was the ultimate illustration of that.

I didn't pay that much attention to the movie, and it seems I don't when I reading anymore either...

Maybe you guys should stop watching films that are over your heads. :)

The story in the film wasn't right in your face like most films, you had to look beyond what you were seeing.

The movie was about revenge and sexual exploration. Tom Cruise was basically looking to sleep with someone else and become more experienced sexually after finding out that his wife had slept with another man.

That scene is pretty much how I view life as a hollywood celebrity.

It was basically a have vs have not "romantic" (in the literary sense) danger deep seeded subconscious desire sexual libido thing. That's what the entire movie was, an exploration of sexual obsession and the de-romanticizing of sex. It was setting up a pseudo-thriller element to demystify it later on.

I'll take eyes wide shut over A.I. any day.

Well I agree that was the point of the story... but I guess it just didnt fit today's qualifications for what a "plot" should consist of for the general audience. Over here, it was mostly teenagers and it was probably a little too mature for some of them to understand what the movie was saying.

I understood exactly what was going on, and to tell you the truth, Vivid could have done a better job at portraying it with Kobe Tai, Jenteal and Ron Jeremy, than Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and whoever else was in that film. I lost a lot of respect for Cruise and Kidman when they did that show. And BTW, his wife never did sleep with another man. He suspected her of doing so, but she never did. She revealed that in the end.

Typical Kubrick fan response. If you don't like one of his movies, you must be too stupid to "get it". Sorry, this one SUCKED. It was garbage in and garbage out, and the ONLY reason it even made it to theatres was a) Kubrick's reputation, and b) All the horny guys who wanted a boob shot of what's her name.

This crap was a porno film, with no porno.

You don't know a damn thing about me, Russ, so don't pretend that you do. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it a bad film in general. I can't stand to watch 2001, because I don't get it. I don't think it sucks, but I just don't get it. I'm going to stop in this thread now because I can't stand to argue with cinematic dolts who think they know what they are talking about.

I do know what you posted, and it was a blatant assumption about the lack of intelligence of anyone who doesn't like the film. My statement stands.

<< Just because you don't like it doesn't make it a bad film in general. >>

It's not a "bad" film, it's a terrible film.

<< I can't stand to watch 2001, because I don't get it. >>

THAT is a great film. It actually has entertainment value, moves along faster then a Seattle slug in winter, is well written and well acted. Eyes Wide Shut is not even in the same league. Not even close.

<< I don't think it sucks, but I just don't get it. >>

Nobody gets it, DUH. That's not the point. It is a great film, you don't have to get it, just enjoy it.

<< I'm going to stop in this thread now because I can't stand to argue with cinematic dolts who think they know what they are talking about. >>

You don't like 2001, but like Eyes Wide Shut, and I'm the dolt? Keep posting, you look more foolish by the minute.
