Exactly, I think I answered like 13 or 14 questions and got a 102. Also, the next step is the AIME, and then I am told its the ASME after that. I have never taken the AIMI but heard it's a crazy test.

Yes, the AIME is crazy. They combine your AIME score with your AHSME score to see if you qualify for US math olympiad. The sad thing is, even those talented mathematicians on the US math Olympiad team gets their ass handed to them by international competition.

btw, if your multiple choices are incorrectly typed, I'm driving to Ohio and smacking you upside the head with a calculator.

Wait for me because I came up with the same solution as yours and I bashed my head trying to figure out what I did wrong. ARHG

ARRRRRRH, I just figured this out. It's not the multiple choice answers that he's transcribed incorrectly but rather the original question that has been altered !!!!

I'll bet that the polynomial in the original question was actually,
x^3 - 2004 x^2 + m x + n

I only figured this out after someone posted in the other HT thread that the correct answer was supposedly equal to C : 250500. Then I looked to see what value coefficient was required in the x^2 term (as I figured that was the most likely place for a transcription error) in order to make the given solution correct. I found that if the x^2 term was 2004 instead of 2400 then it works out ok, 501^2 - 501 = 250500 instead of 600^2 - 600

Just saw this thread, but I took it last month and I did decent, my scores weren't enough to go to next round though, I think I missed it by 10 points or so.... oh well

They gave us copies of our tests, so if you guys need to discuss any questions from it let me know, I took the 10 Contest A exam
