Did anyone take the ACT test?

Hello, I am currently a junior in high school in Boston MA. In case you didn't know, most students take the SAT's here but I was looking at a lot of midwest schools and many of them require/highly reccomend the ACT. My problem is as a freshman I took bio, physics I as a sophmore and this year I am taking Physics II. I have never learned chemistry and that is covered on the test (I will be taking it in senior year). What do you suggest I do?

It's not that type of science.

They give you like 4 blocks of questions with graphs and background info. It's not crucial to know all the science...buy the Official ACT book (I'll edit later)...and move quickly...

EDIT: I took one practice test from this book. I did well considering that's all the preparation I did >25. 🙂

Yeah, trust me, if you can read graphs and charts, you'll do fine. Do a couple of the science practice tests and you'll see a general pattern. The biggest problem I had was time.

It doesn't require random factual knowledge, it's just a test of how well you analyze data quickly.

You will be fine. Don't worry about it. I hated Chem and don't really remember much about it and I did fine on the ACT.

When I took it, I got a 36 on the science. All it required was reading data off of charts or graphs. It could have been in a foreign language that I couldn't understand, and I still would have gotten a 36 since graphs are graphs are graphs.

Stupid math section though. I said (1)^0.5 should be +1 or -1 and got it wrong. The ACT only accepted positive answers at the time. I don't know if things have changed, so ask before doing the math section.

The science part is ridiculously easy...it's moreso reading comprehension as others have mentioned. You get a bunch of charts and graphs and are asked to determine what a value is. I think I finished it usually within 20 minutes and slept. Yeah, I was that ass. 😉

And plenty of people in Michigan take it...the ones that have higher aspirations than a state school, even UM. Granted, UM is so good that most of our elite go there anyway due to the free ride. 😛

SQRT(-1) =i....not 1 or -1 lol

To me, the science part almost seemed more like logic rather than science. Trying to untangle the questions was the hardest part for me. And the most time consuming.

I got every science question right when i took the ACT in '97. Seriously, there was no actual science. It was all reading graphs and the like. Easiest test I ever took, with the possible exception to a Geography test I took in middle school.
