Did anyone switch back to their old cable company after switching to FIOS?

I've had Cablevision for the last two years and never really had a problem with the service. Last year i called up after the Triple Play offer was over for $90 and received another year at the same price. This year came up and it was a no go with customer service and i called 3 different times. My bill was $135 with 1 HD box and no premium channels, internet, and VOIP.

Then i decided to switch to FIOS, since i already had a land line for my alarm (extra $25/month). I'd eventually be saving the extra land line after said and done with FIOS plus an extra HD DVR Box. I had it installed last Tuesday and called Cablevision to cancel. The rep tried persuading me to stay with them and i said it was too late. They offered me a Silver Package, DVR, Internet and VOIP for $115. I eventually said no and i want to try out FIOS, if i have problems i'll switch back. The lady said to call them back and they will pay out Verizon's contract and give me the reduced rate if i decided to switch.

Today at work i received another call from Cablevision asking to switch back with my previous plan for $79 a month with 2 year price guarantee, free dvr for a year and they'd buy my Verizon contract out. Now this seems a little too good to be true for me. Now if i switch back, am i going to get charged for installation fees through Verizon? I know the contract is $175 and cablevision will be covering that.

Anyone ever switch back? Advice or opinions appreciated!

Tell them you will only switch back if they give you a free year. Then use both services and profit!

Heh, Comcast didn't even try to keep me. Asked why I was canceling, I said I was signing up for FIOS. Then they thanked me for being a customer and said to watch for my final bill in the mail.

Hey, at least they're trying. However, if this happens often enough for them, it'll be a sign that they need to seriously look at their pricing/service models. It's probably easier to attract and keep customers in the first place rather than try to get them back after they've made the time and effort to switch to FIOS.

Heh, same here.

I never had issues with Comcast service. I'm not saving that much money with FiOS over Comcast's bundle deals, but my price is locked in for two years and I get a far better selection of channels. I would certainly consider switching back after a year if there's a compelling reason to.

You don't, but the rates are different. It's about $10/month cheaper with a 1 year contract.

Verizon buried my fiber line yesterday. They're coming monday to finish the installation. Looking forward to it. Currently I'm on a 3MB dsl, which isn't too horrible, but I'm really looking forward to trying out that 20MB service. :)

Do it. FiOS is glorious.

This. It's only a year, and the price is good for a year past that. We're saving ~$50 over our previous setup which only included crummy DSL.
