on howard a couple of mornings back, they talked about some news reporter that covered one of these get togethers. he had a really low % of anything correct & was basically proven a fraud.

people that do similar things usually run background checks on the people in the audience beforehand, & then proceed to use this information during the show to make them "believe".

Penn and Teller did a article on the show "Bullshet" on him and people like it. You have to sign like a 6 page disclaimer saying you will not talk about what goes on, for example, how wrong he actually his. They do pre-interview the crowd also so they know what and who to ask.
