Did anyone here ever play Mercenaries 2?

Just wondering; it's $3.95 at D2D and that's about my price for blasting through a cathartic, brainless single player campaign.

I played the first one for Playstation. couldn't continue after about 4 hours b/c it was horribly repetitive and obnoxious.

Yeah, it's pretty fun but it can get a bit repetitious. It's alot like Just Cause 2 but without the super nice graphics.

I bought it on the PS3 some time ago. I made it through a few hours before becoming bored and never returned. But $4 is a nice price for messing around type of games.

Read the PC version had many bug unresolved, but not sure if that's true.

there was an issue with the game saves so sometimes I would lose tons of progress. I finally got tired of repeating sections and gave up.

Lots of bugs in the PC version. Missions that couldn't complete because something was broken. Best example was when I was trying to get one of the companion challenges done. You had to blow up a bunch of barrels and trucks by calling in an air strike. I tried to do them all in a row. Big mistake, since there was a guard post down the hill. The guys came out to investigate the explosions and didn't reset position when I went to the next level. Eventually, one of the guards got killed by being to close. Once that happened, they started shooting me, and all I had in the challenge mode was the laser designator. I was killed during the challenge. Had to shutdown and restart the game to finish the mission.

Played both 1 & 2 for consoles (I think the first one was on Xbox and the second on 360).

Liked them both but had more fun on the first one. I think it might have been the setting/story.

As others have noted, Just Cause 2 is similar.

except Just Cause 2 one of the most entertaining games ever made. and unlike pc version of Mercenaries 2, it was bug free which is impressive for such a massive game.

The deal's over now. Based on what you guys have said I'm kind of glad I passed on this one. It probably would have been another paid demo for me.

Thanks for the opinions.

I wasn't as good as Mercenaries, which was surprising. They removed some of the best features of Mercenaries and change much of the mechanics that made the first game so much fun. The "quests" became very boring and uninspiring.

Mercenaries on the other hand is still in my top 5.
