Did anyone here ever play Asherons Call?

I dunno I was trying to think of the old days of MMORPG's where the communities tended to be tighter due to fewer options (Pretty much back then it was EQ, Asherons Call or Ultima Online)

Anyways I was on harvestgain with 3 chars when I quit

Calamesius - Level 118 Unarmed - Had the Shendolain Mask of the Lightbringer (Only one on Server)
Calabow - Level 110 Life Archer (Virtual god character, he was my 2nd)
Calam - Level 70 Battlemage (war/life spec)

meh, old memories, anyone else play it?

I played on Darktide.

I was Xavier Dreux. The original one... I sold my account after a year and a half.

I was pretty well known to say the least since my character was bugged quite severally. I had 365 War magic at level 60.. I sold shortly after getting to level eighty, because at the time they said they were never gonna allow you to untrain a skill. F'in liars...

I even visited Turbine in July 2001.

I remember your name Xavier. You probably don't remember me though, I only got into it just before the Xpac and then they newbified everything with barriers 🙁.

Best mmorpg ever, I don't think it could ever be topped in terms of pvp.

edit: found some of my old SSs, even. This baby earned me $150 - twice 🙂. Duped on a server crash, and I wasn't even trying, unlike this guy.

Heh, I remember that unique, few shades darker than a virindi shroud with better spells right?

At least yours did something, my helmet looked like a purple eared demon, and had a whopping 10 AC and no spells.

I used to Camp the crud out of the end of the crystal dungeon in that patch, draining the black tuskers, got me like 45 levels in there.

Played it, lost interested in it as the vast majority of the game was about exploiting life drains through terrain. Got to 100+ in a day with a few chars doing that and was like "bleh" for the most part. Played AC2 as well, but that was about making big enemies stuck on little pebbles on the terrain and hurling range attacks at them when they couldn't fight back. Was one of the first max levels on that game.

EQ had exploits.. but not exactly the same. But EQ and UO were a masochists wet dream for game design. They were designed around punishing the player more often than rewarding them. Which was not really fun in the long run.
 
Weird... guy creates an account in 2011, and then his first post is in 2017 to bump a ten year old thread to hook up with one of his old Asheron's Call buddies.

I created the account in 2011 to contact him as well, running out of leads, but persistent 🙂
 
damnit, got caught by a necromancer. To be fair the game is officially shutting of servers the 31st of this month though.
 
I used to play on Darktide and i think Frostfell(sp?) , i quite once Dark Age of Camelot came out and never really played it again.

AC was the best MMO ever! the complete character customization, unique magic system, crazy fun run speeds and awesome monarchy/political system were unmatched.

i remember donning my GSA armor and my peerless atlan and wading through lugie cit and OHN for countless hours
 
Played AC II and was there until the day they shut the servers down. Most heart-wrenching was watching friends that.you never will play the game with again. Is was a beautiful game especially like the part where the seasons change and snow slowly came and went and grass and flowers came out, pretty amazing
