I started with version 2.0 which was back in the Windows 3.1 days (I think) and while it couldnt do much it was plenty fast at making changes to the whole image.
Also used versions 3, 4, and 5. They were just fine.
Picked up the whole Corel Draw suite version 8 many years ago at a Navy Exchange in Italy for a very reasonable price. I got used to using it and frankly over the years I havent seen much improvement in any versions of the software, but they do seem to get a little slower and clunkier each time around. The workspace is always just a little more difficult with each new version and setting it up to be comfortable to me takes a little longer. I also dont care for most of the colors and visual styles on the bars and buttons.
Applying full image effects actually seems to get slower every year, despite me moving to a 64 bit OS and having gobs of RAM and a quad core CPU.
Not only that but they seem to provide worse and worse tutorials & instructions with each new version. I honestly think they are setting you up to pay for a fancy instructional program or worse yet, go to an overpriced seminar. I seem to recall several excellent lessons included with version 11 and a decent help file. Now everything requires you to go online (no real help file that I can find) and there isnt even as much info as their used to be.
Considering they keep falling further and further behind Photo Shop each year I dunno why they think they can charge more and give less. Luckily I got this one with a special school discount (even though I'm not taking any computer classes this semester) but I feel sorry for folks who pay full price.
