Did anyone else like to read Highly technical before? Check it out now, it almost needs a mod just for that forum.

I used to enjoy reading the highly technical discussions, but now it's full of "should I trade in this video card for this?", "why isn't my DVD burner working?". Can't you guys stick the highly technical posting rules as the first post? It might weed out all the hardware questions.

I am currently bringing this idea up with the other moderators.

I think it would be a good idea to give a couple of trusted users moderator privilieges for just that forum, so they could remove all the obviously misplaced threads.

I agree about the sticky though, but really, people tend to ignore those, and thats when they should have their posts deleted.

When it originally stated I loved Highly Technical, and I visted it almost daily for the first 1.5 months... now I only visit maybe once a week because it's deluded to the point wherein only the occasional topic truly belongs there.. the rest could as easily fit in General Hardware.

If it improves I'll go back to visiting frequently, but I don't see that happening.

Agreed, perhaps that would hep out somewhat as it seems there arent enough Mod's to appropriately moderate HT.

since there will always be people that ignore the ht rules, perhaps a bit of self-regulation in the right hands might be beneficial

The big problem with the term "Highly Technical" means one thing to one person and something else to another. Some things that look to me like Highly Technical look to others as mundane.

I agree that it is sometimes hard to determine what is HT but I think that we should veer on the side of cautiousness but some threads are CLEARLY not HT.

The forum has been getting a lot better reguarly, a lot of threads being deleted that were not appropriate. There was a phase a while back where it was really bad.

Deluded or diluted? I've known plenty of extreme tech geeks who were very deluded while talking at a very technical level. :)
