I got my new 3 ghz 800 fsb p4 cpu today from newegg, it was retail package. However i noticed the front of the cpu has a few lines of small text, but it is all blurred and impossible to read. Was just wondering if that's the case for all 3 ghz p4 CPUs. If anyone bought one recently, can you verify please? thanks

Gagaliya, is there a square barcode on the surface of the chip? Is the text in the upper-left, middle, or lower right? Did it come in a Intel retail package that was sealed?

The package was completely sealed in retail box. There was a very faint square barcode on the lower left of the cpu (near the dot), directly above the bar code are a few lines of very small and blurred text (impossible to read).

I guess the chance of it being remarked is low to none, but still remember the horror stories of the pentium1s where people would just zap them through a machine and remark the mhz up. I really dont understand why chipmakers cant just spend a few extra bucks and make a good engraving on the chip instead of using those crap inks, we are kind paying nice prices for them....

yeah, why buy a 3GHz cpu when an o/clocked 2.4 or 2.6GHz one should get you well past 3GHz!

Simple, solid stability. I have been fixing/building PCs long enough to realize the performance gain by OC is definitly not worth the problem it *MIGHT* cause. I am sure OCers will disagree and that's fine, it's your hobby. For me, I just want to build it and use my computer without problems.
