did anybody notice on the nvidia-desperation slides

did anybody notice that slide 5 or damaged goods slide that those numbers are based off a 0.1% failure rate and at 125C.

I don't know where the 1170 hrs come from, but the graph seems to indicate that a 1 in 1000 ATI X1X00 at 1.38V and 125C will operate for 2000 hrs on average before failure. Also, the graph seems to show that 1 in 1000 nvidia cards at 1.5V and 125C will fail after 270 hrs.

How is this graph relevant to us as consumers or system builders?

Is 125C anywhere near the normal operating temperature for a nvidia card or an ATI card for that matter?

0.1% failure rate is bad? 1 in 1000, 10 in 10000 or 100 in 100000 is not something I consider a big problem especially at 125C. I bet the real world failure rate for either company's cards are higher than 0.1%.

The only electronic components I know of where 0.1% failure rate is unacceptable is probably located in commerial aircrafts used by major airlines. Where a failure leads to more than just a refund or a replacement.
 
I agree. The whole presentation is stupid and makes ATI look incredibly desperate.

Good thing Nvidia vendors have lifetime warranties. Can't say the same for ATI.

For one, a GTX 512mb operates at 40ish idle and 70C load. Secondly remember this. Its ALL BS. Theres maybe a element of truth in there, but mostly its all anti NV propaganda.
 
If PR people got pelted with apples by the audience during a slide presentation everytime they used FUD information. The world would be a better place.
