You know......she was never married to that first guy, just engaged. The engagement arranged by her mother for financial gain. Rose so hated the idea of marrying the snob that she almost committed suicide in the movie.....by almost jumping off the stern of the boat. Of course, Jack (DiCaprio) saved her from that fate.
Yes, she didn't marry the rich guy in the movie but she was married once because she had a granddaughter. Rose said she never mentioned Jack to her husband because "a woman's heart is deep and mysterious" or something like that.
OH.. that husband I'm sure there are sll sorts of situations like that in Heaven, I assume it is accommodated nicely (it is Heaven, after all).
Do you think that both men (Jack and Rose's husband) get to be with a "version" of Rose in heaven? And I guess since Jack was Rose's true love, Rose's vision of heaven will be with Jack?
In other words, is there a "personal" heaven for everyone?
I think Heaven is different from life on earth, not just like being alive without the bill payments or bad hair days. That's why you should strive to enjoy your time here today, it is fleeting.
That's the first thing I thought when I saw her go to jack when she died, or dreamt, whatever.
I mean, they knew each other for how long? She was married to her husband for many, many years, yet she goes back to this foolish love she had when she was a teen?
Please. This is why movies surrounding the ever fickle idea of love annoy me.
<< In other words, is there a "personal" heaven for everyone? >>
Yes, I believe there is. Depending on whether or not you were buried or cremated, your own personal heaven may closely resemble a lump of wood surrounded by dirt, or a jar, respectively. Seeing as how, more than likely, this space will be your own (at least for a few feet until some unknown decides to impose his non-existence in your space), it's quite personal
I think heaven is simply the gift of ignorance given to all those who are dead. We spend all our lives looking for some profound reason for our existence, yet when we're faced with the true reality of our lives, we're unable to acknowledge it.
WTF? I don't remember her dying or dreaming and running to DiCaprio! And i saw the movie in both the theatres and on tape. All i remember the ending as is she drops the necklace in the water, and then they do a pan shot of photos of her life after the Titanic.
And what's wrong with the movie? I thought it was great!
