I enjoyed the BJ Penn fight a bit more(for obvious reasons) But man, that cut he got in his eye was pretty nasty and I had no objection to them stopping it. Hell, you never know what can happen in situations like that. When they interviewed the doctor after the fight, she said he was going to get right to the hospital for some sugery.Yikes.

I think that this is just what the UFC needs: Zuffa finally got some major sponsorship(how about them 1500 Miller employees there!) and now they have a bit of sponsorship money to wiggle around with. Now you have two UFC's that people are going to buzz over. Compared to the last few ,they sure do need it.

All of this,of course, is on the assumption that Randy Couture can or is willing to risk his eye to fight again. As to it turning into the WWE: I agree wholeheartedly. I've watched these events since the first one. Hell, Ive even travelled to Charlotte,Mobile and Augusta to watch them live. The nicest thing about them was the respect the athletes would show one another. Beat the man senseless or be beaten senseless and still be man enough to shake his hand and congratulate him on besting you.
Now, they obviously want the WWE type crowd to join the fracas, and what better way than to stir up a bit of make-believe controversy?Tito looked like he was holding back the laughter when Rogaine was interviewing him and Chuck. Oh well, if it takes that to get more folks to pony up the cash to keep this thing afloat, them I guess I can live with it.

Edit: I love how that stool sample Joe Rogan had his eyes blackend to show how tough he was. Kinda reminds me of watching "Dirty Harry" when the guy pays someone to bust him up and blames it on Harry. Here is Joe wearing his wounds like medals. What a dick. They need Jeff"Comatose" Blatnick back for his analysis. Boring as paint, but oh so informative.
Peace

All these UFC guys are buddies. It's a close-knit group who work out together.......Like a clique.

It certainly contrived to create "controversy" like WWE purely for ratings.

I've seen behind the scenes, and these guys are buds and respect each other's fight skills. They do fight on stage, but take defeats well as they know anyone can win on any given day.

I was poking around Sherdog a while ago and found out that Couture had split his lower eyelid and also scratched his cornea. If that is the case the writer said healing time is something like a month or so. Then it becomes a question of whether Randy wants to keep it up or retire like a champ.

I watched the fight again and it sure was an ugly sight.

As for Tito and Chuck, I think that Liddell will beat Tito pretty good. Humbling a man like him is always satisfying to see.Well, that and a good ass whooping like Couture gave him.

Peace

You have no idea what you're talking about. They don't ALL work with each other.

There are teams that put out fighters but they don't all work together as one huge clique.

In last night's UFC main event, the grazing punch by Vitor Belfort on Randy Couture went completely through his eyelid and exposed the eyeball. Couture underwent surgery last night at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas and as of last report, the injuries were believed to be career threatening.

Where was this reported? I saw what I posted earlier this morning, and I dont know how accurate it was.

Thanks
