From the few previews I have seen the KT266A beats the SIS 735 by a bit..Nforce is anybody's guess, could be great, could be crap.

Yeah, thats about what I have heard, and seeing how cheap 735 is compared to the KT266a, that is the way I am going, unless Nforce kills the Sis, which i don't see how it can, at least not by a huge margin. What are the rumored prices for Nforce boards?

Like the above article says, replacing the SiS board with an nForce if needed is no big deal (around $60 lost at most).

Well, there's one thing missing from that article he showed you. KT266A. Read Anand's KT266A review. It includs SiS 735 benchy's. And really, KT266A rips it and everything else apart. I think that unless you are going for the most low cost solution, VIA KT266A is going to be the way to go (Unless nForce really does incredible) IMHO. Here's Anand's KT266A review

This is true, so i think for now i will pick up a sis 735 based board. Who all makes these boards, the only one I have heard of the ECS board. How is it, I know it's cheap? What others to consider?

That's it, the only Sis 735 board is ECS K7S5A. It's a great board, dirt cheap, high performing, there is one bug related to Floppy Drives on Win2k, but that has been fixed by a new BIOS (go to OCWorkbench.com for this new BIOS). The only thorn in it is no ocing options, but I don't think that matters to you right? And I wouldn't expect many more SiS 735 boards to come with VIA playing the "Chipset Game" that Intel has done in the past to Mobo makers

They also have a 'sequel' board called the K7S5A2 available. Pretty newly released.

well kt266a and sis735 could battle for the top spot but the nforce would cost too much plus i really won't use the onboard video anyway so its kinda useless...i am thinking the kt266a will win unless sis735 boards from top tier companies start shipping SOON

According to rojak at least Abit has a 735 board on the way. but yeah i will prolly get the ECS board since it is cheap as heck, and i don't overclock much, with the price of processors now, there isn't much need

Someone over at OCWorkbench said Gigabyte Germany was releasing their two SiS 735 boards the first week of October. Pricing in US$ for the higher end board (Realtek LAN, Creative 4-channel sound, dual BIOS) was ~$110; for the basic board (no LAN, single BIOS, AC97 sound) was ~$80. Both boards have adjustable multipliers and FSBs.
