did Activision ever get Guitar Hero III to run well?

I noticed there have been a few patches released, but I can't find any info on if they did anything about the lag. I use to have the PC version but I lost the disc, saw it for cheap on Amazon with the guitar and was thinking about jumping on it if I find out it doesn't run like ass any more.

It's an industry trend to put out buggy unfinished game. So of course the threads will sound similar.
