Dictionary.com's definition of "overclock" maybe a bit OT...

[/b]overclock /oh'vr-klok'/ vt. To operate a CPU or other digital logic device at a rate higher than it was designed for, under the assumption that the manufacturer put some slop into the specification to account for manufacturing tolerances. Overclocking something can result in intermittent crashes, and can even burn things out, since power dissipation is directly proportional to clock frequency. People who make a hobby of this are sometimes called "overclockers"; they are thrilled that they can run their 450MHz CPU at 500MHz, even though they can only tell the difference by running a benchmark program.

lol:cool:

Wow, that is a bit condescending and weird to put in a dictionary definition, but nonetheless funny. :)

If I am "thrilled" with 450->500, I wonder what I would be with 450->600? ;)

Gee, if they are thrilled about 450 -> 500 I wonder how an "overclocker" feels about 1Ghz -> 1.5Ghz?

That is a pretty funny definition.

<< even though they can only tell the difference by running a benchmark program >>

Man, the author of those definitions must have written those while he/she was drunk! LOL. "Eats computer bugs." <<<WTF???

Scary to know how dumb people can be. I work in a grocery store and you should hear how dumb people are! We just had a remodel done that's lasted over the past 9 months or so and people are accusing us of "moving" products, even though they've never left the spot. :) Gotta love ignorance. :D
